I’m not good at a lot of things.

Growing up, I was constantly trying to find a hobby. I was terrible at sports even though I played travel volleyball for years. I was terrible at violin despite playing from 2nd to 10th grade. (I couldn’t even read sheet music, like….what?) The only thing I was “good” at was journalism in high school. I even won two state awards for it my senior year. But it didn’t give me that “I want to do this for the rest of my life” type of feeling when I was deciding on my career path. It was just something that I did.

After going through 5 different majors in college, I found yet again another think I wasn’t very good at: motion graphics. But the difference this time? I was passionate as hell about learning and doing all I could to be the best motion designer I could be. I was so inspired by my peers and motivated to figure out how they created their assignments.

Fast forward to present day, I feel like I have so much more to learn, but I’m pretty damn proud of how far I’ve come. That sounds dramatic, but if you saw my first project…you’d understand. As a motion designer, I move quickly and efficiently to make the vision of creative teams come to life. I live for the speed graph editor and experimental animation, and I try my hardest every day to show up with a positive attitude and a hard work ethic. Currently, I am a motion designer at VML in the Vault division, where I get to make super cool stuff with super cool people!
